Kettlebells

FAQ Page

Here we have a list of frequently asked questions. We have tried to supply some basic information both here and on our information page. If you are already committed to buying a kettlebell and simply want more information about exercises then we recommend buying a book or DVD to get you started. (Please see 'How can I find out more about kettlebell exercises?' below):

Are kettlebells the best exercise equipment ever?
Of course they are, please visit our 'Kettlebells' page and buy lots of them...You can make gains with any exercise equipment and everyone has there own preference. We are promoting kettllebells as we believe most people can gain the most from kettlebells:

  • Cost: our first customer and friend has made huge gains from two kettlebells and a book. Compare the cost of this to his fifty pound /month gym membership and there is no comparison i.e. he cancelled his membership long ago!
  • Size: everyone has room for a couple of kettlebells but not everyone has room for a mini gym or even a bar bell. If you have high enough ceilings practice inside, if not pop outside!
  • Functional Strength: This is the best reason for us. If you follow the advice of Pavel and friends (www.dragondoor.com) you will build functional strength (i.e. you use your whole body as one unit) this is a lot stronger than employing individual muscles
  • Burning Fat: The kettlebell swing or snatch is great for loosing weight and building a strong heart and the endurance built by these exercises transfers well to other sports/training.

Why are your kettlebells so cheap compared to others? What's wrong with them?!
We are kettlebell enthusiasts who paid far too much for their first kettlebells and decided we could supply them cheaper. We honestly feel people can gain a lot from kettlebells and shouldn't be put off by a high price. Kettlebells aren't as cheap as buying weights for your barbell simply because of economies of scale. They are made out of the same material but there aren't many people manufacturing them! Absolutely nothing is wrong with them and they are made to the same standard as many, if not all, of the more expensive ones. We even share a manufacturer with some of our competitors! Simply put, they're cheap because we're too good to you! All our prices include tax and the kettlebell listing indicates whether postage is currently included in the price or applied separately.

What kettlebell should I start with?
For men we recommend 16kg, for women 8kg. If you are already involved in strength training/endurance then 20kg and 12kg respectively may be worth considering. However, there are very few people who need to start with this weight (e.g. athletes). Safety first!

How can I find out more about kettlebell exercises?
There is now a wealth of information on the internet. Our personal favourite is Pavel Tsatsouline at www.dragondoor.com . If this isn't to your taste then there are also his collegues who all have a different slant on kettlebells. For example Mike Mahler who leans towards strength endurance and has excellent exercises for building power/size; Steve Cotter and Steve Maxwell have backgrounds in martial arts and therefore are biased towards supporting kettlebell exercises. There is also a growing number of people from the UK with their own videos and KB classes. We have to point out here that the above mentioned people, being competitors in one way or another, in no way endorse our products!

How long does delivery take?
During weekdays we aim to post your order within 24hrs of receiving it. We use either DHL, Parcel Force, or TNT(32kg+). DHL and Parcel Force are a 2-3 day service while the TNT service is next business day. None of these services are guaranteed. Please let us know if you require a guaranteed service or require it quicker and we will do our best to accommodate you, but remember this will cost more. If you have a special request or order we will arrange it on an individual basis. All this usually requires is an extra day to contact you. Any delays in processing your order and you will be notified straight away! When your purchase is despatched we will give you an estimated time of delivery. Please get in touch with us if your kettlebell takes any longer than we quote and we will chase up your order with the parcel company. Postage quoted is to mainland UK.

Why aren't there more weights?
There is a different philosophy behind the use of kettlebells; a simplistic approach where one man/woman and their kettlebell can make terrific gains. It has more to do with the exercise used rather than the weight used for the exercise. In this day and age, Wu Ming can't give any specific exercise advice but we do have an example of making the same exercise harder
here. Kettlebell users often employ 'ladder sets' for their training which is also very flexible and allows for the gaps in weight. Ladder sets also happen to be one of the best ways to build strength.

What is your refund and privacy policy?
Please check your kettlebell when it arrives. We are happy to replace any faulty items. We're pleased to say we haven't had a fault one yet! Our buyers are entitled to a 'cooling off' period of 7 days after delivery according to law. So if you change your mind you can have a full refund. Please be aware that if a buyer simply changes their mind (i.e. the product is not faulty) we will request that the buyer pays for the return postage. Any requests, queries, or complaints can be directed to Sean at sean@wuming.co.uk

With respect to your personal details, we simply keep your email address for any future contact or purchase on your part.
